Benjamin Samuel
ABOUT ME
Benjamin Samuel is a compassionate Christian pastor and counselor who shares God’s immeasurable gifts of forgiveness, reconciliation, redemption, grace, and newness of life to all who think of themselves as being hurt or wounded.
Samuel brings 14 years’ experience in pastoring and clinical care to people who are feeling left out, who have been left out, or who have been stigmatized by our society as being “less-than.” He is skilled and experienced at working with people who are in recovery from the effects of substance abuse, domestic violence, the consistent presence of permanent and stable homes – some call this homeless - and with people who are actively coming to the end of their life.
He is welcoming and nonjudgmental in his approach to caring for all among us. Embracing the slogan of the denomination in which he is an ordained minister, the United Church of Christ (ucc.org) –“ no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey you are welcome, “ Samuel listens to and welcomes you.
Samuel holds a Doctorate in Ministry with a concentration in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Spirituality and a Master of Divinity from New York Theological Seminary, a Bachelor in Economics from Madras Christian College, India and he has certifications in Clinical Pastoral Education, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling, and Classical Guitar.
He is the senior pastor at First Congregational Church of Morrisania, UCC, New York, is serving the Armed Forces veteran community in New York as a chaplain, and providing care for people in hospice care. Samuel is employed at Northwell Health System as a chaplain/counselor where he provides leadership and guidance for a 12-Step group. The communities at Calvary Hospital and St. Albans Veterans Affairs also have been open to receiving his ministerial gifts.
Samuel is passionate about sharing the availability of God’s love and grace for all and in collaborating with different ethnic groups and cultures.
